About the Crown Heights Film Festival:
Pedro Marti and Erin Gleason founded the Crown Heights Film Festival in 2009 with the aim of bringing quality local and international filmmaker’s works to the heart of Brooklyn, celebrating their talent to a broad audience. CHFF provides a social forum for both long-time residents and newcomers in a rapidly changing neighborhood that is navigating various socio-economic issues including racial integration, growth of local businesses, police presence under “zero tolerance” directives, and adapting its strong sense of community to a changing environment. CHFF believes the community at large, through the medium of film, benefits from the provision of a festival that reflects the diversity such a neighborhood possess.
